David Grimal wished to initiate the creation of a linking collective of musicians of the professionals resulting from the greatest European formations to young talents in becoming: Dissonances.
Formation with variable geometry but also creation and ' think tank ', this unit has given its first concert in Paris and was in round in France as of the summer 2005.
The Dissonances are incarnated in an artistic project marrying requirement and freedom. The artistic programming is entrusted to the musicians: programming open to all esthetics, baroque with the musics of tomorrow. There are no leader but artists who decide to work together.
This work will be enriched by collaborations, according to the projects, with interpreters and type-setters of international fame. To restore the link with the creators of today is a major concern for the musicians of Dissonances, who wish to put in prospect the current works with the great repertory.
The Dissonances formation has recorded a first album for Ambroisie/Naïve which has been acclaimed by the press (ffff Télérama, Arte selection, BBC Music Choice). The version of the Métamorphoses has been considered by the BBC like the new reference. The Dissonances have been already the guest of prestigious institutions in recent and future seasons (Radio France, Cité de La Musique, Opéra de Dijon, Philharmonie Hamburg...).
The Dissonances is supported by the French Ministery of Culture and Communication. The Dissonances has been chosen as the Ensemble in residency in the new Opéra de Dijon. The production of The Dissonances is led by the agency Instant Pluriel in Paris.
